In this workshop, we navigate the maze of trans people’s reproductive options for creating a family. We discuss types of care providers and compare three models of obstetric care in the US. We explore prenatal care, birth care and location choices, postpartum care and infant feeding choices, as well as holistic and mainstream medical approaches to preconception and fertility. Participants learn how gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgeries can impact the options for using their genetic material to create a pregnancy, and what the current medical research says about biological transgender parenthood. Participants leave with a road map of their reproductive health options, evidence-based recommendations to support their fertility and chances of conceiving, and practical tools and resources for reducing discrimination in their paths to parenthood.
