Montrice Care

As your Montrice I will do everything that a doula does - and a lot more! Montrice support differs from doula care because I use my clinical skills and knowledge to support you in your pregnancy and labor process. In pregnancy I can feel your baby’s position and listen to your baby’s heartbeat. In labor I can monitor your vitals and listen to your baby’s heartbeat while at home, and can check your cervical dilation to help you decide when to go to the hospital. At the hospital, I will continue to provide physical, emotional, and informational support through the birth of your baby, and will help you establish a great latch and take lots of pictures (if desired). In the postpartum, I will return to your home to check on how your family’s doing, process your birth, provide infant feeding support and answer any questions that are coming up for you.

Collaborative Midwifery Care for Hospital Birth

For families choosing or needing to birth in the hospital who want a more individualized care experience, I offer collaborative care with hospital providers during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Collaborative care can be tailored to your individual family’s needs and desires, but generally includes:

  • 2-4 hour long prenatal visits

  • Information and resources in pregnancy
  • On-call availability for birth beginning at 38 weeks
  • Montrice support during labor
  • 1-2 postpartum home visits for parent and baby
